Critics Choice Awards take place in February

After two postponements, a new date has been set for the Critics Choice Awards. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 7th.

A new date has been set for the Critics Choice Awards. After being postponed twice due to the fires in California, the awards ceremony is now scheduled to take place on February 7th. This was given by the television station E! Entertainment on Friday (January 17th).

The event will continue to take place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, which is located not far from the fires. The US comedian and actress Chelsea Handler (49) will host the evening.

Third date for the awards ceremony

The awards ceremony was originally scheduled for January 12th, but was postponed to January 26th four days beforehand. They were then postponed again – but initially without a new date. Now it should be ready at the beginning of February. But the two fires are still raging in Los Angeles, which currently cover more than 38,700 hectares. “This unfolding tragedy has already had a profound impact on our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires and with everyone affected by them,” said Critics Choice Association CEO Joey Berlin , in a statement last week.

There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight yet. As reported on the news service X, the fire in the Pacific Palisades district is only 39 percent under control, the Eaton fire is 65 percent under control.

Stephen King’s review of the Oscars

The fires also caused postponements at other awards shows, including the Oscars. The nominations should have been announced on January 17th. Afterwards, January 19th and finally January 23rd were set as new dates. The actual awards ceremony is still scheduled to take place on March 2nd in Los Angeles.

Author Stephen King (77) spoke out against this on Friday (January 17th) on Threads. He began his message by saying he understands others’ statements that the Oscars are “a celebration of life and that the show must go on.” However, to him it still feels like Nero fiddling while Rome burns. Or in this case, wearing fancy clothes while LA burns.
