Javier Milei met again with Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), this Monday in Washington. The meeting, which took place at the hotel where the Argentine president is staying, lasted 75 minutes. At the end, Georgieva told the Argentine press in the lobby: “We want to move quickly on a new program and present it to the board.” Likewise, he confirmed that a technical mission from the IMF will travel to Buenos Aires next week.
The head of the IMF highlighted that Argentina has achieved “tremendous progress” and added: “The momentum for new reforms is strong; “This is a good time to give a greater boost to the country’s sails.”
At the meeting, Milei was accompanied by his sister and general secretary of the Presidency, Karina Milei; the Minister of Economy, Luis “Toto” Caputo, and the Chancellor Gerardo Werthein.

Fresh funds: in search of a new agreement with the IMF
Javier Milei seeks to close a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), a program that the technical teams of the Ministry of Economy have been negotiating for months. This plan would be a continuation of the one signed in 2022 during the administration of Alberto Fernández, which ended last December.
The Argentine president arrives strengthened these negotiations after meeting and even exceeding previously agreed goals, especially in the tax field. Milei hopes that the new agreement includes a disbursement of at least US$11 billion, a figure that it considers key to eliminating the exchange rate. The last review of the year is also expected.

On that occasion the President was accompanied by his sister; Karina Mieli by the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo; and by the chancellor, Gerardo Werthein. There Milei kept a meeting with the president of the IDB, Ian Goldfajnwho praised the progress of the economic program of the libertarian administration through a post on social networks. “It is encouraging to see Argentina’s efforts to chart a path towards growth and opportunities,” said Goldfajn in the statement released after the meeting with the Argentine president.
Later Milei also held a meeting with Brazilian senator Eduardo Bolsonaro, son of former president Jair Bolsonaro.
