Fines invalid in January 2025
According to the new regulations, The validity of the fines expires after a certain period. Starting this month, drivers will be able to request the elimination of fines depending on how serious the violations were. But to be able to do so, it is important to make sure that the fines are within the established deadlines for each province.
In the case of minor infractionssuch as double parking, exceeding 10% of the permitted speed limit, not respecting traffic signs and driving in non-authorized areas, such as sidewalks or platforms; The owners of the vehicle can request the reduction of the fine from the two years. In case of serious violationssuch as ignoring a red light, driving without a license plate, driving the wrong way, not wearing a seat belt and refusing to give information to the authorities, they must wait five years for it to prescribe.
To request the elimination of fines, it can be done in two different ways: the first is in personfor which you have to make an appointment and go to the General Directorate of Administration of Infractions (DGAI) to complete the procedure, while the second is through the official website of the organization, where the consultation must be made with the bot and then organize a virtual hearing to resolve the case.
