Premium users initially agreed to share their information, in order to optimize their platform.
The deception behind its update
The central problem was change of terms and conditions that occurred, where users were “deceived” by the situation. Customers stated that the platform subtly updated its privacy policy on September 18, 2024, to extend the agreement that personal data may be used for the purpose of train AI models.
A specific fact that kept users on alert was the hyperlink of “Frequently asked questions“which indicated that if you choose not to make that option, “does not affect training that has already taken place“. That indicates that LinkedIn was aware that they violated customers’ privacy and promised that they only used personal data to improve your platformminimize public scrutiny and legal consequences, as stated by the demand.
On the other hand, Microsoft did not respond quickly to the lawsuit or requests for comment on the matter. This whole situation happened after donald trumpthe president of the United States, will announce a joint venture between OpenAIbased in Microsoft, Oracle and SoftBankwith a potential investment of US$500,000 million to build AI infrastructure in the United States.
