In a documentary, the ex- “vibe” editor Danyel Smith makes serious allegations: Sean “Diddy” Combs is said to have threatened her with death.
In the upcoming documentary series “The Fall of Diddy” from Investigation Discovery, the former editor-in-chief of the “Vibe” magazine, Danyel Smith (59), raises serious accusations against the rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs (55). He is said to have threatened her in 1997 in the dispute over a magazine cover. Combs’ lawyers clearly reject the allegations.
Smith says, Combs initially asked to see the current cover in advance. She rejected this because this fundamentally violated company policy. According to her refusal, Combs is said to have told her on the phone that he would soon see her “dead in a trunk”.
The lawyer demanded apology by fax
Smith then turned to her lawyer, who contacted Combs. He called for an apology by fax, otherwise the police would be involved. Almost two hours later, Smith received the required apology, said the ex-editor-in-chief in the neckline.
In retrospect, Smith learned from former employees that Combs even searched for her with two “tough types” in the former “Vibe” offices in the days before. Smith had already indicated the serious allegations against the 55-year-old today in an essay in the “New York Times” in July 2024.
Combs defender: “pure fiction”
Combs’ lawyers speak in a statement of “pure fiction”. The documentary producers would not have provided enough time and details to check the allegations, mostly by unknown participants without context. One is certain that the truth will come to light in a court proceedings.
The former music mogul is currently in custody in New York City. He is accused of sexual misconduct in over 30 complaints. The trial against him should begin in May. So far, Combs decidedly rejects all allegations. “The Fall of Diddy” will be broadcast on Investigation Discovery and Max on January 27th and 28th.
