When celebrated for a good cause in the Bavarian court, the German film ball traditionally takes place. This celebrities were there this year.
German film has already experienced better, more financially stable times. Nevertheless-or precisely because of this-the cinema celebrities and filmmakers have let the corks pop at the German Film Ball in Munich. Veronica Ferres and husband Carsten Maschmeyer, Matthias Schweighöfer with girlfriend Ruby O. Fee, director David Dietl and actor such as Moritz Bleibtreu or Jessica Schwarz came to the big gala in the Nobelhotel Bayerischer Hof – to name just a few.
The German film ball wants to spread a positive mood
The German film can tolerate a few more big names, said the President of the top organization of the film industry (SPIO), which is traditionally inviting to the ball, Björn Böhning. “We need stars again, we need more stars,” he said – but also emphasized that the film ball should spread a positive mood: “The film ball is the gas station for confidence in the film year 2025.”
After several filmmakers had addressed critical words to the address of politics the day before at the Bavarian Film Award, the head of the Bavarian State Chancellery, Florian Herrmann, tried to make a confident tone and a positive mood. “It’s the biggest ball, it is the greatest ball and the film industry is the most beautiful industry anyway,” he said, emphasizing the social meaning of films. Filmmakers worked “in the heart of what our democracy is. They are not dependent on us – but we are on them.”
