DJ Steve Aoki is looking forward to his first baby. He found out his gender on the open stage – of course through a typical cake.
DJ Steve Aoki (47) surprised those attending his performance on Barasti Beach in Dubai with the news that he is becoming a father for the first time. And not only that: Together with his wife Sasha Sofine, he immediately announced whether a girl or a boy was on the way.
“The most important cake of my life”
Steve Aoki shared a video of the baby surprise in the middle of the stage on his Instagram account on Monday. He first introduced his loved one to the crowd and shouted: “So, this is a special moment. This is my wife and we’re having a baby!”
To cheers from the crowd, he continued, “We’re going to find out if it’s a boy or a girl.” A large cake was then brought out with the word “AOKI” written on it in pink and blue icing. Sasha Sofine held up the pastry and her husband plunged his face into it. Then confetti and blue smoke enveloped the stage, along with a glowing graphic that read, “It’s a boy!” The blue cream on the DJ’s face also revealed his gender. The happy couple kissed and hugged each other.
The American with Japanese roots wrote about the video: “The most important cake of my life… It’s a boy.” The gender reveal method suits the DJ, who often throws cakes and pies at his fans at shows and has made a name for himself with it.
Sasha Sofine is his second wife
Steve Aoki is a fixture in the electro house scene and has worked with artists such as will.i.am (49) and Iggy Azalea (34). His first marriage was to model Tiernan Cowling from 2015 to 2018. In July 2024 he married Sasha Sofine in Montenegro. It will probably be a few months before the offspring is born. Because a baby bump was not yet visible at the gender reveal in Dubai.
