Quentin Tarantino: Last film no longer has the top prio

As is well known, Quentin Tarrantino (61) wants to make a last film before ending his cinema career over 30-year-old. But with the shooting of the final work, he wants to take his time. “I haven’t in a hurry to get into production,” said the cult director in an interview at the Sundance Film Festival. Tarantino flew to the US state of Utah especially for the conversation from his part-time election home. At Sundance, his first film “Reservoir Dogs” celebrated its premiere in 1992.

It has been over five years since Quentin Tarantino’s last film “Once Upon A Time … in Hollywood” in the cinemas. Since then, his priorities have shifted: towards his family in Israel. His son will soon be five, his daughter is two and a half years old. Tarantino has been married to the Israeli singer Daniella Pick (41) since 2018. “When I’m in America, I write,” the commuter revealed. “And when I’m in Israel? Then I’m an ABBA, what father means”.

Because of the children, Quentin Tarantino is waiting with the start of his last film. “The idea of ​​going on a trip if you are still too young to understand it is not tempting for me,” he said. He wants to wait until his son is at least six years old. Because: “In this way he will know what is going on, he will be there, and it will be a memory for the rest of his life.” His daughter, however, is “a genius”, she already understands “what’s going on”.

Quentin Tarantino’s priorities have also moved artistically. He is currently working on a play. In general, the stage is just more attractive to him than the cinema. “What the hell is now a film? Something that runs into cinemas as an alibi for four damn weeks. And in the second week you can see it on TV,” he scolded in an interview. It is different in the theater. The stage is the “final border” (“Final Frontier”), the final artistic challenge that is still worthwhile.

The play where he is writing could also be Tarantino’s next and last film. But only if it is a success. His last film is definitely not “The Movie Critic”. That is how his cinematic legacy should actually be called. In the planned project, figures from his previous films and a young version of himself should appear. But Quentin Tarantino had stamped the project in spring 2024.
