Jorge Macri announces investments and works in schools for the beginning of classes

A little less than a month after the start of classes, the head of the Buenos Aires government, Jorge Macri, will announce investments and works in schools in the City of Buenos Aires for more than $ 145,000 million.

The event will take place this Wednesday, January 29 from 8:45 in the Technical School Nº20 of the Mataderos Educational Pole, located in Avenida Directory 6102.

Classes in the city will begin on Monday, February 24despite the request of the Secretary of Tourism of the Nation Daniel Scioli, who had requested that they be extended until after the Carnival holidays, March 3 and 4.

The city’s government spokeswoman, Laura Alonso, was clear at the time when she said “Education is undisputed priority” and the beginning of the school year “It is not negotiable.”

Investments for more than $ 145 billion in works for schools

  • Education is the priority area of ​​the city with the largest expected investment of the entire 2025: 20.1% budget ($ 2 billion 795 billion).
  • More works. This year $ 146.6 billion is invested in more than 600 infrastructure works in schools. 300 are already underway and end for the beginning of classes.
  • More support for cooperators. 43% increase the investment in the Unique Decentralized Education Fund (FUCE), which will be $ 3,000 million. It reaches 1,443 schools through 833 state management cooperators. In 2024 more than $ 2.1 billion were transferred.
  • More school kits. There are more than 3,400 kits of school supplies and teaching materials to strengthen language and mathematics. Some 134 thousand students will have specific material kits, prepared by the Ministry, called: “I love to learn.”
  • More teacher training. With new approaches, the city updates and invests in the continuous strengthening of programs for teacher training, a key aspect to continue improving the quality of the system.
  • More technological equipment. Some 58,000 students will receive netbooks and tablets from the Sarmiento Plan, and 350 interactive screens will be installed in secondary schools. Between February and March, 12,000 netbooks will be changed, for obsolescence.
