A US federal judge wants to disclose Prince Harry’s visa documents. The conservative Heritage Foundation had sued.
Prince Harry (40 )’s immigration files could soon become public. The responsible judge Carl J. Nichols announced on Wednesday at a hearing in Washington that he would “probably” order the release of the documents. This could reveal whether the Duke of Sussex gave truthful information about his earlier drug use when he arrived in the USA.
Conservative foundation had sued
The U.S. Ministry of Department had sued the conservative Heritage Foundation in order to get inspection of the 40-year-old’s documents. The plaintiffs argue that Harry could possibly have kept any questions about his drug past on the visa application. In his “Reserve” autobiography published in 2023, he granted the consumption of cocaine, cannabis and hallucinogenic mushrooms.
“I have to make everything public as far as possible,” said judge Nichols ,. However, he must ensure that no US data protection laws would be violated. The procedure will now be “gradually”.
Donald Trump could intervene
The Heritage Foundation also calls on US President Donald Trump (78) to become active in the matter. As President, he had the authority to instruct federal authorities the approval of documents. Trump had already stated in the election campaign that he was considering deportation of the royal. “We have to see if they know something about the drugs and whether he lied,” said Trump in March 2024.
Prince Harry had moved in her home country in the USA with his wife Duchess Meghan (43). The couple lives with the two children together in Montecito, California. According to legal experts, entry into the USA must truthfully answer questions about previous drug use. Otherwise, this could have consequences up to deportation.
