“Wool Mer’n Eroilosse?”: The television fasting “Mainz remains Mainz as it sings and laughs” is a TV classic that ARD and ZDF show alternately. This will also be the case in 2026 and the following years.

The participating carnival cooperations as well as the ZDF and the ARD broadcaster SWR concluded a new contract that comes into force in 2026 and has a term of four years with an option for two more years.

The two broadcasters will therefore be broadcast from the Electoral Palace in Mainz in the annual change on Friday before Rosenmontag this year. This year the SWR is the first for the ARD community program on February 28th.

“Even after 70 years, the mother of all television sessions is as cheerful as ever,” said the responsible SWR program director Clemens Bratzler.

ZDF program director Nadine Bilke was pleased that the cooperation with the SWR and four clubs will continue. “The television fast night from Mainz is of particular quality.”

The TV Fastnacht “Mainz Mainz remains as it sings and laughs” is a German TV classic. The most famous television carnival meeting has been broadcast in its current form since 1973. For the first time, in 1955 she flickered as “Mainz, how it sings and laughs” about the screens on ARD television. In 1965 the then new ZDF “Mainz remains Mainz”. The two TV sessions were united 52 years ago.
