At the Berlinale, Timothée Chalamet did without the classic premiere look and appeared entirely in pink.
Timothée Chalamet (29) caused a sensation at the premiere of his film “A Complete Unknown” at the 75th Berlinale – but not with an elegant tuxedo, but in a emphasized casual outfit. The main actor of the BOB-Dylan biopics appeared on Friday evening in a complete BabyRosa ensemble on the red carpet.
Dance insert instead of stiff poses
Instead of the formal wardrobe usual for film premieres, the French-American actor decided to make a relaxed look of hoodie, tank top and jogging pants in a delicate rosaton. He combined matching boots and a diamond chain.
Chalamet showed himself in a party atmosphere and even made a small dance performance in front of the photographers. In between, he grazed his hoodie and presented himself in the sleeves.
Celebrated performance as a Bob Dylan
The extravagant appearance of the star follows the first enthusiastic reviews for his portrayal of the folk icon Bob Dylan (83). The film “A Complete Unknown” by director James Mangold (61) focuses on Dylan’s early career and his controversial change from folk to rock, which reached its climax at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.
: “Mangold has created a captivating film that focuses on the crucial years between Dylan’s arrival in New York City in 1961 as an unknown teen troubadour from Minnesota.” Praise Chalamets “Electricity in every respect”.
Intensive preparation for the role
he prepared for five years with a Harmonica coach. He also undertook a “spiritual journey” to the most important places in Dylan’s life in Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin. However, he never met the artist himself: “He somehow withdrawn from the public,” said Chalamet. “I never hit him … but I saw him live.”
Dylan himself was still involved in production. “He approved the script, made changes, there are lines from him in the script, which I very much appreciated,” said the actor. He did not strive for a perfect imitation of the musician: “Bob had no vocal coach. He had two bottles of red wine and four packs of cigarettes – you can’t imitate that.”
In addition to Chalamet, “A Complete Unknown” also shows Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro and Scoot McNairy. The film is competing in this year’s Berlinale.
