Sheryl Crow sells her car and donates the proceeds to public broadcasting. A clear statement against Elon Musk.
Sheryl Crow (63) has set a clear sign against Tesla boss Elon Musk (53). , she separated from her Tesla vehicle and wants to donate the proceeds to public broadcasting NPR (National Public Radio). “There is a time when you have to decide who you want to ally with,” said the musician in her post.
“My parents always said you are who you surround yourself,” wrote Crow for a video that shows how her black Tesla is towed on a trailer. She waves him up brightly and writes: “So bye Tesla.”
She will donate the money to NPR “who is threatened by President Musk”, as she writes. She has hope that “the truth will continue to find its way to those who are willing to recognize the truth,” the post continues.
Drastic cuts under Trump
: Since taking office as US President, Donald Trump (78) has been increasingly against news organizations, whose reporting he has not liked. Finally, his criticism was directed against the two non-commercial broadcast chains PBS (public broadcasting service) and NPR. The new chairman of the FCC, Brendan Carr, who was appointed by Trump, has initiated an investigation against NPR and PBS member stations.
At the same time, Musk’s unofficial governmental authority tries to drastically shorten the expenditure, to delete “entire authorities” from the US federal government and to reduce jobs and selected programs as part of Trump’s efforts.
With her campaign, Sheryl Crow is involved in a growing number of celebrities who are publicly positioned against Musk’s politics. The singer is known for her critical attitude towards the current US government and repeatedly uses her reach for political statements.
