In protest against the endeavors of tech billionaire Elon Musk to shorten state funds for public broadcasting, US rock singer Sheryl Crow has sold her Tesla. On her Instagram account, the 63-year-old posted a video on which you can see how a Tesla stands on a van and is driven away. Crow (“All I Wanna do”) waves the vehicle after a smile.

Money from sale goes to public broadcasting
According to the post, the money from the sale donated to the public and non -commercial broadcasting NPR (National Public Radio), since this is “threatened” by Musk, as she writes, “in the hope that the truth will continue to go to those finds that are ready to experience the truth. ”
The background to the campaign is that Musk had spoken out on X, among other things, to reduce the financial support of the state for NPR. US President Donald Trump has commissioned Musk and his team named Doge (Department of Government Efficiency) to put government expenses to the test and reduce government spending. NPR is mainly financed from sponsorship and donations, but also receives grants from the state.
In addition, the new head of the Federal Communications Commission (FFC), Brendan Carr appointed by Trump, ordered an investigation by NPR, among other things, to reduce the federal financing of the entire public broadcast. The FFC is an independent US authority created by the Congress, which awards licenses on radio and television channels in the USA.
In the election campaign, Trump had often threatened to take action against political opponents in the event of an election victory, to use special investigators against them, to accuse them and even bring them into prison – including journalists. He describes the media as the “enemies of the people” and he wants to withdraw unpleasant channels.
