Julianne Moore has to watch her children’s book disappear from libraries. She explains why she shocked this on Instagram.
For this measure, US actress Julianne Moore (64) has no understanding at all: “It is a big shock to find out for me that my first book, ‘Freckleface Strawberry’, was banished by the Trump administration from schools of the Ministry of Defense” , writes with a long message that she made about the distance from the book cover and the message.
The Ministry of Defense had previously announced that books are examined in the school libraries as part of a “compliance check”, which “may be connected to the gender ideology or the ideology of equality”. A “small number of books” was identified, which are kept for “further review”.
“I’m really sad”
Her book with illustrations by Leuyen Pham is a semi-autobiographical story about a seven-year-old girl, “who does not like his freckles, but finally learns to live with them when she realizes that she is different, just like everyone else,” clarifies Moore open their followers. It is a book that she wrote for her children as well as everyone else to remind her of “that we all have problems, but are united by our humanity and our community,” added the actress.
She is particularly stunned because she was “proud graduate of the Frankfurt American High School, a Ministry of Defense School that was once operated in Frankfurt, Germany. I grew up with a father who is a Vietnam veteran and his career in the Us Army spent. It is annoying for Moore that children like themselves, “who grow up with a parent in the military and attend such a school, have no access to a book that was written by someone whose life experience is so similar”.
In the end, the actress adds with clear words: “And I can’t avoid asking myself what is so controversial about this picture book that it was forbidden by the US government. I am really sad and never thought that I would have thought would experience something like this in a country in which freedom of expression and freedom of expression are constitutional law. “
