Province will publish their third studio album “Pacific” on February 21. After “We built America” ​​(2020) and “Zorn & Liebe” (2022), the German Indieband has treated itself to a longer album break – now they want to open a new chapter. “Writing an album or generally creative also means taking time and isolating yourself in peace,” explains band member Leon Sennewald (26) in an interview with Spot on News. “We didn’t have the time with the first two albums. Since Corona has always been going on a lot, we were on tour a lot or had hustle and bustle.” The four -piece band, consisting of the cousins ​​Vincent Waizenegger (26, vocals) , Moritz Bösing (33, bass) and Robin Schmid (30, keyboard) and drummer Leon Sennewald, is from the Upper Swabian Vogt moved to Hamburg in the district of Ravensburg, which is also part of the new chapter for the musicians. “Pulling away from home has a bit of emancipating yourself because you completely go to what, where you don’t know every corner and face,” explains Leon. “This definitely matures, which is also reflected in music or in the texts.” Singer Vincent, who is responsible for the band’s texts, therefore describes the new songs “as an adult and also a bit experimental”.

In order to deal with the pressure of success after two successful albums, the musicians primarily rely on their band structure. “We try to see the band as a safe and comfort space where we give each other feedback and do not need anyone from outside, we are our own corrective,” says Vincent. In order to shorten the waiting time for the album, some pre-singles published.

This includes “summer makes melancholic”. Vincent felt the summer melancholy, especially last year, as he says. “I have been working every summer for the last five years because we played at many festivals. This time I missed to go to the lake or on vacation with friends. Even if we were allowed to play a lot live A bit sad, I felt like I was missing the summer. “The band recently performed the song on” ZDF Magazin Royale “. A TV appearance is still something special for the members. “You have to get used to the mask a bit, you are powdered (laughs) all the time, but it’s definitely cool,” says keyboarder Robin. Drummer Leon adds: “We have never staged it with such a large orchestra in such a backdrop, the excitement was there, but it worked well, now we are in the mood for taking an orchestra on tour.”

The band had also released “outside”, a hymn for indifference and inner resignation that arose after the Hamas attack. Due to the current political situation in Germany, the song has once again gained importance for the musicians. “We recently played on a demo, I had the feeling that the song is written for this setting. It is important to us that we position ourselves, also at our concerts,” says singer Vincent. For the musician, the increasing range of his band also means “that we have an increasing responsibility”. There are moments when you can distract yourself and skip the messages, but there are also moments “in which you have to look and stand for democracy. The coordination with the AfD in the Bundestag was again the taboo break, which Matched that we want to say: the majority don’t want that. ” Robin adds: “Not to look away at the right and important moments, people should do that when choosing. Anyone who is still considering whether they should vote should definitely choose. Rather, it is about the big and whole, democratic values ​​and solidarity.” Vincent “does not think that other artists do not comment politically. In order to feel the proximity to the fans, the band will play a club tour this year a few open-air appointments. “We have played bigger and bigger live in recent years, which also made sense to go to larger cities and play larger concerts,” explains Robin. But the band longs for the “small, sweaty clubs that are not in Hamburg or Berlin, but in more provincial cities”. After the clubs, the band is also ready for a special open-air concert in their home country Ravensburg, to which the band not only expects a lot of family. “It will be a festival. I think it’s the first real open air there, of course we are pleased that we can make a little bit of an impression,” says Leon. That the band on their new album “Pacific” on the big ones Feelings, from Heartbreak to the future, does not give the musicians with a seriousness at their concerts. “We just live a life that is fun, we can turn our passion into a profession,” says Vincent. “We also have ourselves and that is a family with ourselves and more friendship as a college.
