“The King is Back” announces Bavaria’s prime minister and dresses up as Elvis Presley for the Franconian Fastnacht. Also a political signal two days before the federal election?
Markus Söder has often proven that he is a fan of bands such as Abba and spontaneous vocals. For his cladding on the Franconian Fastnacht, Bavaria’s prime minister now resorted to the “King of Rock’n’Roll” and made his way to the Lower Franconian Veitshöchheim as Elvis Presley. There he actually dares to take a small vocal insert with “You are always on my mind” in front of the Bavarian Radio microphone (BR).
Söder came out of the mask at the Nuremberg State Theater after an hour. Söder explains his choice. For this he also sacrificed his beard, which he had worn in the past few weeks.
“The King is Back” is Söder’s view of his costume two days before the Bundestag election. According to his information, the CSU politician has not yet lost the desire to disguise.
In the costumes, he also sees a “little hope in these crazy times, a bit of joy in these uncertain moments. That is good”. He does not want to know a political sign with his disguise as a “King”.
