Para-swimmer Taliso Engel has set up world records for Germany and won gold. With “Let’s Dance” the slow waltz was his fear opponent. The spectators love his appearance.
The strongly visually impaired swimmer Taliso Engel danced into the hearts of the television audience at the RTL show “Let’s Dance”. Thanks to the vote of the spectators, the 22-year-old received the so-called direct ticket in the first edition of the new season. In the next episode of “Let’s Dance” he cannot leave.
At the jury vote, the swimmer, who was born in Nuremberg, who has already set up world records and won two Paralympics gold twice, only collected 15 points for his slow waltz. That was three less than the jury favorite, Ballermann singer Marc Eggers.
Dance partner should know handicap – and immediately forget
However, Engel completed an enormously personable appearance and – not only in terms of its restriction – placed an impressive dance. The athlete explained his disability: “You can imagine that I only see something at the outside of the eye.” RTL simulated this perspective for a short moment with a widely black picture. His partner should know that, but preferably forgotten again immediately, he would like himself, the athlete said.
After the performance, Engel spoke openly about his fears on the dance floor: “We have a slow waltz. And I’m still out of breath. Because I just had such a high pulse with nervousness. I trembled all the dance.” Juror Motsi Mabuse praised his straight posture. The dreaded professional critic Joachim Llambi advised him to interact with the dance partner: “I want you to be more open, that you are more demanding, that you have fun together.”
In the 18th season of the 18th season, among other things, television chef Roland Trettl, celebrity son Diego Pooth, actress Simone Thomalla, almost jungle queen Leyla Lahouar and stunt woman Marie Mouroum.
