Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck: Now the divorce is also official

Now it is official: Jennifer Lopez (55) and Ben Affleck (52) are officially divorced. As can be seen from court documents, the marriage of the Hollywood couple was declared over on February 21 by the Los Angeles County Superior Court. The two had already agreed on the details of their separation on January 6th.

The former dream couple of the early 2000s found each other again in 2021 after almost 17 years. In July 2022, they initially said yes in an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas. A month later, on August 20, 2022, the big wedding celebration followed with family and friends in Georgia.

Since the couple had no marriage contract according to media reports, the financial matters had to be clarified. Both are allowed to keep their assets acquired during the marriage. Affleck’s share of the production company “Artists Equity”, which he operates with Matt Damon (54), remains untouched. At the end of January it became known that the ex-couple will share the profit from the sale of their $ 60 million villa in Beverly Hills. What the final division of the proceeds between the two will look like remains confidential.

Lopez submitted the divorce in the summer of 2024, exactly two years after the wedding celebration in Georgia. As the separation date, she stated April 26, 2024, as the reason was called “insurmountable differences”. The 55-year-old waived legal support and requested that neither of the two maintenance payments had to be made. In addition, the legal fees are to be shared. Lopez also applied for the cancellation of Affleck’s last name from her name.

As early as May 2024, rumors about tensions in marriage had arisen after the few for weeks had no longer been seen. Lopez, for example, visited the Met Gala alone and made solo advertising for her film “Atlas”. They also spent the summer months separately.

Despite separation, Lopez and Affleck now maintain a friendly relationship again – not least because of their five children from previous relationships. Lopez is the mother of 16-year-old twins Max and Emme from their marriage to Marc Anthony (56). Affleck has the children Violet (18), Seraphina (15) and Samuel (12) with ex-wife Jennifer Garner (52). The former patchwork family continues to understand each other very well. Shortly before Christmas, the ex-partners were even spotted in a restaurant during the gift exchange. School events have already been attended together.
