Wings: The Story of A Band On The Run includes more than 100 photographs, many of which had never been seen before.
Paul McCartney announced the details of a new book entitled “Wings: The Story of A Band On The Run”.
The new book, which will be launched on November 4, is an oral story of the iconic band, formed by Paul, his wife Linda and Denny Laine in 1971, after the enormous worldwide success of The Beatles.
Described as “an enthusiastic and stereo celebration of the songs, collaborations and interpretations that would shape the soundtrack of the late twentieth century”, the book is prepared from more than half a million words and countless hours of interviews with McCartney and other key actors in the band’s orbit.
How is Wings’s new book
The book explores the impact of the band through its albums and follows the different incarnations of the formation throughout their career. Among the anecdotes are included while being assaulted in Nigeria, their surprise appearances in the halls of the university in the United Kingdom and how they came to write successes such as “Let ‘Em In”, “Live and Let Die”, “Band On The Run” And more.
Wings: The Story of A Band On The Run includes more than 100 photographs, many of which had never been seen before. The book also aims to “shed new light on the immediate consequences and the global impact of the separation of The Beatles, when the panorama and musical tastes began to fragment and diverge along with social opinions.”
Speaking about the new book, McCartney said in a statement: “I am very happy to be transported back to the time of Wings and relive some of our crazy adventures through this book.”
“Starting from scratch after The Beatles was sometimes madness. There were very difficult moments often questioned my decision. But as we better thought: ‘Well, this is really good, ”he added. “We show that Wings could be a really good band. Play for great audiences in the same way as The Beatles did and have an impact in a different way. It was a great emotion. ”
