Prince Harry surprised at an event in Los Angeles with insights into his life as a father and royal neutrality.
With an unannounced appearance, Prince Harry (40) was surprised by the participants of the Upfront Summit in Los Angeles on Thursday. The Duke of Sussex took the opportunity to speak as a neutral royal at the venture capital event about his role as a father, his understanding of social service and his perspective.
Invest in the future
“I am here to talk about something that, in my opinion, appeals to all of you as leaders, creators, builders and changers: How do we invest in our common future to solve the challenges that we face as split society today?” Explained Prince Harry in his speech.
The father of two, who lives with his wife Duchess Meghan (43) and the common children Archie (5) and Lilibet (3) in California, emphasized how much his father role motivates: “As a father, I am constantly looking for solutions. As someone who was born into a life in the service, I see that responsibility comes with power and a platform.” With a wink, Harry also spoke about his unusual position as a politically neutral royal: “I cannot be classified in the left or right, I am not committed to the beliefs of blue or red. Damn, I was not even allowed to vote!”
The duke also explained how his understanding of service to society has changed through his move to the USA: “In my life, so much was about charitable work in my life. Since then, I have continued to focus on my charity organizations, but I am also looking for upstream solutions and prevention – through decisions and investments that have to be tackled before they have to be resolved.”
Harry revealed that he has been investing in companies for five years – “sometimes public, but mainly in silence” – in companies that agree with his values and his vision of a better future. “In a world in which technology is more embedded in our lives, it is easy to forget the human aspect,” he emphasized. “I saw first -hand how technology can bring people together, but much more often as they can split and damage them, especially our children.”
The surprise appearance followed just a few weeks after the Invictus Games 2025, which took place in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada in early February. Prince Harry had previously announced that the next games will be played in Birmingham in 2027.
