Academy Awards: Documentary “No other Land” wins Oscar

The documentary “No Other Land” of a Palestinian-Israeli team about the evacuation of Palestinian villages in West Bank has won an Oscar. The directors Basel Adra and Yuval Abraham used the stage in Los Angeles to point out the situation in their region.

“” No other Land “reflects the hard reality that we have endured for decades and against which we still defend ourselves,” said the Palestinian filmmaker Basel Adra, “while we call up the world to take seriously to end injustice and to stop the ethnic cleaning of the Palestinian people.”

“We made this film, Palestinians and Israelis, because together our voices are stronger,” said Israeli journalist Abraham. He spoke in favor of national rights for both peoples – and in this context criticized the foreign policy of the United States without mentioning President Donald Trump.

He called for “a political solution without ethnic dominance, with national rights for our two peoples”, and added: “And as I stand here, I have to say: Foreign policy in this country helps to block this way.”

“No other Land” by Adra, Abraham, Rachel Szor and Hamdan Ballal revolves around the expulsion of Palestinians in the villages of Masafer Jatta south of Hebron in West Bank.
