Surprise appearance ensures enthusiasm

As an unannounced guest, Mick Jagger at the Oscars was enthusiastic. The Rolling-Stones front man presented a prize.

With the sound of the first bar of “Sympathy for the Devil”, the Oscar audience already knew that something special was imminent. What followed then, even hard-boiled Hollywood stars, was amazed in awe: Surprisingly, rock legend Mick Jagger (81) entered the Oscar stage to present the price for the “best original song”. The Rolling-Stones front man was not officially announced and accordingly ensured open mouths.

“You are very friendly, thank you very much,” said the musician with one hand on his heart when he accepted the standing ovation of the audience. His British compatriot Elton John (77) was also difficult to hide his surprise and exchanged astonished looks with his husband David Furish (62), as the television pictures prove.

Jagger jokes about Bob Dylan

With the usual pointed humor combined Jagger his speech with a loving swipe at another music veteran: “I feel very honored to be able to hand over this price for the ‘best original song’. As much as I enjoy, I was not the first choice for this award: the producers actually wanted Bob Dylan for it.”

With this remark, Jagger referred to the Dylan-Biopic “Like a Complete Unknown” with Timothée Chalamet (29) in the leading role, which was nominated for eight Oscars. “Bob didn’t want to do it because he said the best songs this year were obviously in his film. Bob said they should find someone younger. So I’m here, “said Jagger with a sly smile. And indeed-at the age of 81, the Rolling-Stones singer is two years younger than the 83-year-old Dylan.

After his humorous entry, Jagger presented the Oscar for the “best original song” to “El Mal” from the film “Emilia Pérez”, written by Clement Ducol (43), Camille (46) and the director Jacques Audiard (72).

With girlfriend Melanie Hamrick on pre- and after parties

For Jagger, the Oscar appearance was not the only appointment around the Oscars. The Brit, which is usually rarely seen on red carpets in Los Angeles, also visited the traditional pre-dinner of Chanel and Charles Finch in the Polo Lounge of the Beverly Hills Hotel. Of course, accompanied by his partner Melanie Hamrick (37). The two have been a couple and parents of the eight -year -old Deveraux Jagger, the youngest of Jaggers, a total of eight children since 2014.

After his appearance at the Oscar Awards, Jagger and his partner also celebrated together at the legendary Oscar party of “Vanity Fair”.
