Abor & Tynna go to Basel for Germany. The sibling couple tells in the interview that the ESC preparations are already running.
The Austrian pair of siblings Attila (26) and Akünde Bornemisza (24) from Vienna, better known as the music duo Abor & Tynna, prevailed against strong competition with his hit “Baller” at this year’s ESC preliminary decision. The selection process organized by Stefan Raab (58) ended with a public decision in favor of the two Austrians who are now represented Germany.
Raab’s surprising comparison of Tynna with a “female version of Udo Lindenberg” took the duo with humor: “We found it funny and unexpected and I was happy,” the two explained in an interview with the news agency spot on news. They were also particularly pleased with the praise of ESC icon Conchita Wurst (36), which “Baller” unmistakably described as the best song of the evening.
Abor & Tynny favored her competitor Lyza
When asked why Raab also described her song as “by far the most modern in the competition”, they said: “‘Baller’ ‘, unlike the other ball-bean more ball-like ESC songs, could also be heard in a club or at a party.” She describes the finale itself as “intense and exciting until the last moment”, whereby she especially recognized singer Lyza as “strong and very talented competition”. Surprisingly, they admitted that Lyza was also on her note: “Our favorite was Lyza.”
Preparations for the ESC in Basel have already started for Abor & Tynna, with numerous rehearsals and dates in the calendar. They left open whether a cello has to “suffer” again on the stage in Basel again, as with their spectacular appearance in the preliminary decision: “We are currently discussing the exact staging and is not yet final. But there is the possibility.”
You have clear priorities for your appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest: “It is most important to us to stay authentic and on the ground and to get the core of our artist project intact.” Although you have no special connection to Switzerland or Basel so far, you are also looking forward to getting to know the host country.
Abor & Tynna are then supported on site by her team, her management and family. With a view to your chances at the ESC, you are optimistic: “We are very hopeful and ambitious to win the victory for Germany.”
