The TV doctor died at the age of 80
She moderated the “consultation hour” on Bavarian television for over 30 years: now the TV doctor Antje-Katrin Kühnemann has died.
Antje-Katrin Kühnemann is dead. The famous moderator and TV doctor died in her house on Lake Tegernsee just a few days after her 80th birthday.
Kühnemann’s long -time girlfriend and companion Carolin Reiber (84) had only seen her a few days ago. “We went through thick and thin,” the newspaper quotes the moderator. According to the report, Kühnemann is said to have celebrated her 80th birthday on February 22nd together with friends in St. Moritz, Switzerland. The exact cause of the death of the TV doctor is not yet known.
With “the consultation hour” she became famous
Antje-Katrin Kühnemann’s career began in 1965 at Bavarian Radio, where she worked next to her medical studies. Until 1979 she was a television announcer on the broadcaster’s study program, and she also moderated children’s programs, a gymnastics series and a quiz show. From 1978 to 1988 she led through the weekend program “Saturday club” and from 1989 through “Health! Medicine in the first”. She also achieved great prominence with the health magazine produced by the BR “The Consultation.
Kühnemann received his doctorate in 1971 and later worked in various clinics. From 1979 to 2018 she was the medical director of a sanatorium on Lake Tegernsee.
TV doctor was physically weakened
In 2010, the doctor announced that she had breast cancer and chemotherapy under operation after an operation. In October 2024, she had over 40 operations and was therefore physically weakened. “I’m not afraid of death and long for him,” she said in the same interview.
Also to be united with her great love again: her second husband Jörg Gühring died in 2021 at the age of 86. “When my husband gets me, I join. Then my permanent pain is finally over,” said Kühnemann of the “AZ”.

Patrick Lindner (64) was one of the first to react to the death of Antje-Katrin Kühnemann. The musician divided a photo together with the TV doctor and wrote: “With this sad news I woke up today, our dear friend Antje Katrin died suddenly and unexpectedly.”
“So many great moments in all the years that we have been able to experience with you. Our hearts are full of grief,” he added.
