On the death of Antje-Katrin Kühnemann: Bayerische Rundfunk bows before the “pioneer of health journalism”.
The Bavarian Radio mourns his long-time moderator Antje-Katrin Kühnemann. The popular TV doctor, who has prepared health issues for an audience of millions for decades, died at the age of 80. This was confirmed by her long -time girlfriend, moderator Carolin Reiber (84), the broadcaster.
Kühnemann had started her career at Bayerische Rundfunk and was the face of the show “The Consultant – Advice for Health” for 34 years from 1973 to 2007. From 1989 she also moderated the “ARD guide Health” in the first.
“A pioneer of health journalism”
“Antje-Katrin Kühnemann has accompanied millions of spectators with her sensitive nature and expertise for decades,” says Dr. Katja Wildermuth, director of the Bavarian Radio, the moderator and TV doctor. “She had the gift of simply explaining difficult medical topics.”
The director also emphasized the human qualities of the deceased: “Antje-Katrin Kühnemann was not only a professional luminary, but above all a warm personality who was loved by her audience. We lose a pioneer of health journalism with her.” The sympathy of the transmitter applies to her family, their relatives and friends.
From studying medicine to the youngest television announcer
Antje-Katrin Kühnemann started her television career during her medical studies. In 1965 she started at BR as the youngest television announcer in Germany. Soon afterwards she also worked in the ARD. In addition to her health programs, she also moderated the quiz show “How would you like it?” With Hans-Joachim Kulenkampff.
Kühnemann has received several awards for her journalistic work, including with the Golden Camera and the Bambi. She made her many years of work at the BR one of the best -known media doctors in Germany.
Program changes in honor of Kühnemann
The Bavarian Radio also recognizes its deceased moderator with program changes. In the “evening show”, the broadcaster is reminiscent of Antje-Katrin Kühnemann this Tuesday at 6 p.m. At 0:20 a.m., the BR also repeats an episode of “Alpha-Forum” dedicated to it, which was recorded in 2015. This broadcast, which shows a detailed portrait of the TV doctor, is already available in the ARD media library for access.
