Veronica Ferres is investigating in the new RTL series “Alpentod-a Bergland thriller”. In the interview, she talks about the challenging shoot.
Veronica Ferres plays one of the leading roles (4th and 11th March, at 8:15 p.m. at RTL, one week in advance in the new crime series “Alpentod – a Bergland thriller” at RTL, one week in advance). The actress embodies the quick -witted investigator Birgit Reincke, who forms a team with criminal commissioner Jonas Becker (Schultz) and forensic archaeologist Marie Sonnleitner (Weber).
“I think the modern narrative style is very great,” enthuses the actress about the two crime films in conversation with Spot on News. “I was not only interested in the cases, in episode one a missing child in a missing person and subsequently two a woman with a younger, killed lover, but the great trio convinced me.” Her two colleagues are “just wonderful people and actors who contribute so much to the story in their roles”. There is a lot of zoff, fun and unusual moments in front of the camera, “in which they cut their heads, but then always pull together in the sense of solution of a case”.
Veronica Ferres about love for Austria
Also significant for the films that were created in Salzburg, Hallein and in the Alpine foothills is “the image implementation with the roughness of the mountains and forests, which also play a leading role,” says Veronica Ferres. “With this nature and the primeval forces, you have to deal very differently than in the big city.” The actress was looking forward to the locations in the neighboring country. “I feel very comfortable there. The Salzburgers and Austrians have grown dear to me since ‘everyone’, where I was allowed to play the buhlship for three years, I also have a real fan base,” says Ferres. “They are very respectful and gracious fans, many of whom I was allowed to do with the films I was allowed to do in Austria, from ‘the long wave behind the Kiel’ to ‘Little Lady’.” The “alpine death” shoot was also a challenge. “We started in August, so the costumes were of course also a T-shirt, a thin jacket over it and a jeans. But at some point it was at the end of October, we had temperatures around 0 degrees and seven days,” recalls Ferres. But a “brilliant solution” against the cold was quickly found: “At some point I took my old diving suit from home, cut it out at the front and put it on under the costume.”
Another challenge was the action scenes, which included a fall over a radiator hood for Ferres. “I had to do the handstand overturn five times until the scene was in the box. The last time I tried my arms and I prayed that it was all a good thing. But it was a lot of fun.” In the second part there was also a raid scene in which Birgit Reincke is put down. “I did that myself, I got a motorcycle protection in my back because I was thrown on the wall.” With stun scenes, you just have to know “how to behave and protect yourself,” says Ferres. “I did this in many films and learned from the pike. The scenes have a completely different energy and that is always a great challenge.” So far, Ferres mostly got away in her career without injuries.
The love for dogs and the most beautiful profession in the world
In addition to his colleagues, Ferres also had an animal companion in front of and behind the camera: her bitch Luna. “She is always the darling of production, everyone is happy and Luna is also very happy if she can be there,” says the actress. “And at some point it was asked: ‘Can she play?’ I didn’t hesitate for long. ” For Ferres, Luna is an important part of her life, “which is so much more beautiful and richer with a dog. This unconditional joy that I come home when I come home from a hard day is simply the biggest. This is such a nice gift and I believe that I am much happier and relaxed and that it is really something great for health.” When filming, she goes for a walk with Luna in the morning and after the shooting closes, “that alone clears his head and is good for what I just didn’t have in the past”.
Ferres has not lost its joy in acting over the years. “What makes me so happy is the creative process, my preparation,” she says. “And if you come to the set, what happens. If unexpected things are done by staging the director, then these are often so fulfilling moments, I cannot describe that at all.” For them it is the most beautiful profession in the world, “so I always get to the set with a big ray and I am very, very happy”. On the set, it is important to her to greet people with a handshake, to know their names and to create cooperation at eye level and respect. “From the equipment to the cameraman, everyone gives the best every moment so that I can be good. I think I let the team feel this gratitude very much.”
It is therefore not surprising that the 59-year-old would also “love” with the “alpine death” series. “I really find it a very modern, really great series with high show values and a lot of entertainment.” It is not the first time that Ferres immersed in the crime world, in the ZDF series “Murder sisters” she played case analyst Dr. Astrid Brockhaus. “I had a lot of fun playing this know -it -all. This time it was less about the comedic representation, but about the real education of the criminal cases.” She also participated in several films in the “crime scene” series, but never as an investigator. Would that be a dream job for you? “You should never say,” said Ferres. In addition to new roles and a possible “alpine death” sequel to the actress, this year there is also an important day on the calendar: on June 10th she celebrates her 60th birthday. “I haven’t planned anything yet,” she reveals in an interview. “But you will probably not reach me, but I will be here without a cell phone while skiing water on any of the lakes.” The actress has not yet realized that the round number is coming up: “I feel like alive and young and curious, especially in recent years through the many beautiful roles that I can play.
