Sparkling appearance in Finland. During the state visit, Queen Mary wore a golden tiara and a bracelet. Special highlight: The jewelry has not been worn for 140 years.
State visits are not unusual for the Danish Queen Mary and her husband Frederik X. As part of a visite of several days in Finland, the 53-year-old now caused more attention than usual. For the Gala Dinner with the Finnish President Alexander Stubb and his wife Suzanne in the Palast in Helsinki, the monarch shine with jewelry deeply in the history of her nation.
Gemstones from the 19th century
Queen Mary appeared in a floor -length robe by Jesper Høvring, a Danish designer, whose creations she often uses several times. She had already worn the evening dress with flower embroidery for the New Year’s reception in 2019. Now she refined the luxurious robe in a special way: with a diadem and a bracelet, which are normally exhibited in the Treasury of Rosenborg Castle, in the center of Copenhagen.
The Danish royal family once again deliberately drawn attention to the glamorous pieces of jewelry: “During the state visit, her majesty, the queen, decided, among other things, for two special historical jewelry. At the gala dinner, the queen is wearing the golden diadem of Queen Caroline Amalie with antique gemstones and the bracelet of Princess Wilhelmine Marie with half-stone from the Vesuvian area.” It was emphasized: “It is jewelry that has not been worn for over 140 years.”
The Tiara was created around 1820 for Caroline Amalie, the wife of King Christian VIII. He acquired the eleven bordered gemstones during a couple’s trip to Italy from 1819 to 1821, in which the two Rome and the ancient excavations in Pompeii visited. Princess Wilhelmine’s bracelet (1808-1891) acquired King Friedrich VII during a trip in 1828 – shortly before the wedding. On the back it has a particularly romantic saying in French: “It was on the summit of the glowing Vesuvian when your heart was pouring out”. Both preciously are part of the royal collection.
Queen Mary also made cross -country skiing
The state visit of Queen Mary and King Frederik in Finland is scheduled for two days, and a total of 17 program items are planned. Finally, the Museum of Modern Art and the Aalto University are to be visited. However, the Danes arrived a day earlier and made a trip to Lapland with the Finnish President couple on Monday. The two couples went on a cross-country skiing tour there and went on a ride in the reindeer sled.
