King Charles honors the Commonwealth Day in a personal way. The monarch operated as a DJ and created a special playlist.
King Charles III. (76) for the Commonwealth Day on March 10th tackled a very personal project. The monarch has put together a playlist for its own music show, which will be available free of charge on Apple Music 1 from March 10th. Charles proves a versatile music taste.
King Charles: “Music brings us joy”
“The King’s Music Room” was recorded in the Buckingham Palace. The show has songs from greats such as Kylie Minogue (56), Bob Marley (1945-1981) or Grace Jones (76). Afrobeats artist Davido (32) or the British R&B and pop singer Raye (27) also made it into the royal playlist.
The musical journey should correspond to Charles’ personal taste and be shaped by his experiences from all over the world. In addition to the songs played, the 76-year-old also tells some anecdotes about his encounters with artists and talks about the meaning of the songs.
“All my life, music has meant a lot to me,” says Charles to the episode. “I know that this is also the case for so many others. It has the remarkable ability to let happy memories from the deepest depths of our memory rise, to comfort us in times of sadness and to bring us to distant places.” The monarch adds: “But maybe she can lift our mood so much, and that is all the more when she brings us together to celebrate. In other words: it brings us joy.”
the project was also announced by the Royal Family. In a clip you can see how Charles takes a seat at his desk on which an on-air lamp shines. In the background, the sounds of Bob Marley’s “Could You Be Loved” can be heard, which are also voted on by a chapel in front of the Buckingham Palace.
The English monarch is the head of the Commonwealth of Nations, which includes numerous former colonies such as Australia or Canada. The Commonwealth Day takes place on the second Monday in March and this time is under the motto “We thrive together”.
