In the first “Harry Potter” film he played the “fat monk”. Now the fans of Simon Fisher-Becker have to say goodbye.

British actor Simon Fisher-Becker (1961-2025), known from the film “Harry Potter and the Stone of the Wise” and the “Doctor Who” series, is dead. He was only 63 years old. His agency and his husband confirmed that he died on March 9th. A cause of death was not published.

His agent mourns the loss of customers and “close personal friend”

His agent Kim Barry becomes: “With Simon Fisher-Becker, I not only lost one customer today, but also a close personal friend from 15 years.”

“Harry Potter” fans is called Simon Fisher -Becker through his role as the house spirit of the Hufflepuffs – “The Fat Mönche” – in the film adaptation of the first part “Harry Potter and the stone of the wise” from 2001. He is also known for his role alongside Matt Smith (42) in the fifth and sixth season of the BBC Science fiction series “Doctor Who”.

His agent remembers: “I will never forget the call I led to him when the role of Dorium Moldovar was offered in the BBC series ‘Doctor Who’. Simon was also a writer, an anecdotal story and a great speaker.” She further explained: “He helped me a lot and was friendly, lovely and interested in everyone. My condolences apply to his husband Tony, his brother, his niece and nephew and his crowd of fans.”

Fisher-Becker’s husband Tony Dogdale also confirmed death according to “Metro” and reported on the actor’s Facebook page: “Hello everyone. Here is Tony, Simon’s husband. I have very sad news. This afternoon at 2:50 p.m. I died. I will keep this account open for a while. I am currently not sure whether I will post something again. Thanks.”

To be seen in “Les Misérables”

In addition to other appearances in series, Simon Fisher-Becker also played a small role in the Oscar-winning film “Les Misérables” from 2012. He was also active as a vlogger and wrote several shows and short memoirs about his life and career.
