“These drombuschs” and co.: These family series shaped the 80s

With the death of Hans Peter Korff (1942-2025) at the age of 82, many people feel unavoidable in “this Drombuschs”. Back then, Korff played the Siegfried “Sigi” Drombusch in the series. One of the largest German family series remains “this Drombuschs” as unforgettable as other productions from the 1980s.

“This drombuschs” was a good, old street sweeper – a TV production with such high ratings that the alleys could look empty in some places during the broadcast. From 1983, millions of people always watched what life should have for the Darmstadt family. In addition to the recently deceased Hans Peter Korff, the stars of the series included Günter Strack (1929-1999) and Witta Pohl (1937-2011), who, with their role of Vera Drombusch, became the nation’s TV mother.

From the mid -1980s, “The Wicherts from next door” were also part of it for many. This was about the everyday life of a Berlin family, with all its challenges. The TV members included Stephan Orlac (1931-2020) as father Eberhard, the mother Hanelore played by Maria Sebalt (1930-2023), whose sons Rüdiger (Jochen Schroeder, 71) and Andreas (Hendrik Martz, 56) and Grandma Käthe (Edith Schollwer, 1904-2002). Further appearances also celebrated well-known faces such as Manfred Lehmann (80), Brigitte Mira (1910-2005) or Wolfgang Völz (1930-2018).

“Just no divorced people,” thought Werner Schumann (Peter Weck, 94), but he hadn’t expected Angi Graf (Thekla Carola Wied, 81). The promotional engineer and bachelor fell in love with the head over head in Angi. However, the three children Tanja (Julia Biedermann, 57), Markus (Timmo Niesner, 53) and Tom (Tarek Helmy, 50). Sebaldt was also visible in the middle of the 80s for the first time in the middle of the 80s.

“The happy family” was shown between 1987 and 1991. Faces known today told about the life of the Behringer from Graefelfing near Munich. Maria Schell (1926-2005) embodied mother Maria and Siegfried Rauch (1932-2018) Father Florian. But with Uschi Glas (81) and Elmar Wepper (1944-2023) back to northern realms: in “Two Munich in Hamburg” Julia Heininger (glass) is moving to the Hanseatic city, where she is supposed to lead a bank branch. She believes that her competitor Dr. Ralf-Maria Sagerer (Wepper) has something to do with it. What else will develop? In many of the consequences, the legendary Johannes Heesters (1903-2011) could also be seen.

At the end of the 1980s, “The Legge of the Guldenbergs” caused a sensation with tensions inside and outside a fictional noble family. In their roles at the time, Ruth-Maria Kubitschek (1931-2024) shone as Margot Balbeck, Iris Berben (74) as Evelyn Lauritzen and Christiane Hörbiger (1938-2022) as Christine Gräfin von Guldenburg.

Somewhere between doctor and family series, the “Black Forest Clinic”, which was almost legendary today, also operated. The clinic attracted viewers with their moving stories, in the center of which Klausjürgen Wussow (1929-2007) as Professor Klaus Brinkmann and his son Dr. Udo Brinkmann (Sascha Hehn, 70) stood in front of the tube TV from mid to the end of the decade.
