Incredibly painful gastrointestinal problems

In 2021, Christina Applegate Multiple Sclerosis was found. Since then she has shared her path of suffering and is now further into detail.

Since her MS diagnosis four years ago, the “a terribly nice family” star has been in the hospital more than 30 times. Christina Applegate (53) now tells you that she believes that her gastrointestinal complaints also contain her multiple sclerosis. “I had unimaginable pain from bowel movements,” she opens in the podcast episode of March 18 and shares some of the most painful moments of her constant struggle with multiple sclerosis.

When reading out listener messages, she reports about a fan named Kelly, who informed her that she had to struggle with brutal gastrointestinal symptoms since the diagnosis and handed over and diarrhea every day. Applegate replies that she has also had this experience and believes that this could be a symptom of the chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system.

“Pain that was unimaginable”

“This is really important, because in the three years since I was diagnosed I was more than 30 times in the hospital because I had to hand over and had diarrhea and pain that was unimaginable,” reports the actress. “You only carried out every conceivable test on me and burdened my body with so much radiation, from CT scans to everything else. And literally, only in the last month, I found it out.” You recognized a pattern.

One of the things at MS is that it slow down the function of the organs. “Talk to your doctor about motility problems, okay,” she advises her fellow sufferer. When going to the toilet, Appegate sometimes has to hand over at the same time. “And if I have to throw up, I get all the pain.”

Her neurologist does not take the 53-year-old seriously and does not interpret it as a MS symptom, but the actress will now have a colonoscopy carried out. So she is in the same situation as her listener, and “she scares me”. Not everything is in the medicine books. “Well, we are not in the medical books. We are human beings.”
