Nick and Aaron Carter were swarm of millions of teenagers in the 1990s. A documentary now shows the dark side of their global fame.
Backstreet-Boys singer Nick Carter (45) and his sister Angel (37) have their say in the documentary “The Carter” about the childhood and the careers of Nick and Aaron Carter. “That is what happened behind the scenes. Here is the truth,” says Angel Carter in a trailer to the documentary, which is to be released on April 15 at Paramount+. “Fame and money destroyed our family,” says Nick Carter in the trailer.
Angel Carter is the twin sister of Aaron Carter, who was discovered in the bathtub on November 6, 2022 in his house in Lancaster, California. The singer celebrated great success in the late 1990s with hits such as “Crush on You” and “Aaron’s Party”. After that, many comeback attempts had been unsuccessful. Carter had repeatedly fought with psychological problems as well as medication and drug addiction.
Angel and Nick Carter lost three siblings
Aaron is not the only child that the Carter family lost early: Sister Leslie Carter died in 2012, also in the pop music business, according to the age of 25, according to reports on a medication overdose. Sister Bobbie Jean died in 2023 at the age of 41 – here too, an overdose should be the cause of death. The film is said to reveal the dynamics that led to the death of the siblings – and show the real price of fame.
