The Searchers celebrated big hits in the 1960s. The musicians will now celebrate farewell with a Glastonbury debut.
The Glastonbury Festival is the perfect place for a farewell to the stage. The Searchers thought that. The long -standing rock band will appear in Glastonbury on June 27 and, according to its own information, will play their “last show” after 68 years of touring life,
The Mersey Beat band, which, like the Beatles, comes from Liverpool and was founded around 1960, repeatedly played with a changing line-up. Founder Mike Pender (84) was there until 1985, co -founder John McNally (83) is still. The name is inspired by the Western film “The Searchers”. The best -known songs of the band include “Needles and Pins”, “Sweets for My Sweet” or “Sugar and Spice”.
“Refuse the fans one last time”
“A Glastonbury debut with 83, can someone top that?” McNally indicated in a statement. “I don’t think life gets even better, right?” The band will surely be a little nervous, “but in a good way, and we will be well warmed up by our shows in June. Also singer and bassist Frank Allen (81), who has been part of the band since 1964, raves: “For over 60 years I have been playing with The Searcher’s concerts all over the world; Glastonbury has always been a goal that we could not achieve – until now. What kind of tour and a career. I can’t wait to go on stage and heat up our fans one last time.”
He also writes: “You may remember that after three ‘last’ tours last year that we finally declared that we will withdraw – unless we are offered something that we simply cannot say no. And of course we could not say no to this offer. The Searchers end her career in Glastonbury. What a great way of settling. And I really believe that this will be the last hurray. Ask us to make a Royal Variety Show.
Your “Final Farewell Tour” will start on June 14th and end with the Glastonbury appearance.
The Glastonbury Festival has been around since the 1970s and takes place near the city of Glastonbury in Somerset in southwestern England. The music event will take place in 2025 from June 25th to 29th. Pop star Olivia Rodrigo, the 1975 as well as Neil Young and his band The Chrome Hearts will appear as headliners. Charli XCX, Rod Stewart, Doechii, The Prodigy and Alanis Morissette are also included. Around 200,000 visitors are expected.
