Allegations of abuse: Depardieu process begins-were there sexual assault?

For years, women have accused Gérard Depardieu sexual attacks. Now the French actor has to answer in court. The process that had been postponed for health reasons promises to become explosive. Depardieu’s lawyer is considered to be disputed.

The two-day trial against the 76-year-old, which begins on Monday, takes place before the criminal court in Paris. Among other things, two women accuse Depardieu of having touched them on intimate places in 2021 during the filming of the film “Les Volets Verts” (the green shutters) by Jean Becker.

The first plaintiff, a decorator, states that she captured Depardieu in a corridor, touched her on the chest, buttocks and intimate area and made obscene comments. In February 2024, she filed a lawsuit for sexual assault, harassment and sexist insults. The second plaintiff is a director’s assistant. She also accuses Depardieu of having touched her in an immoral. He is said to have re -enacted her before. The woman showed him in March 2024.

Court session with temporal restrictions

The procedure was last postponed for health reasons. This time Depardieu had to present medical reports. The negotiation days must not take longer than six hours and have to be interrupted by 15-minute breaks.

Depardieu has had diabetes for over 25 years and received four times bypass. The court waived a psychiatric report.

A process with explosive

For the defense, Depardieu got the well -known criminal lawyer Jérémie Assouus, who made a name for himself in France through spectacular cases. Assous, known for his provocative style, it was already that had reached the shift of the process in autumn 2024.
