Selena Gomez talks about bodyshaming: she no longer uses social media apps

Selena Gomez (32) has expressed her resentment in a new podcast that her weight is often a topic of conversation and therefore does not use social media apps on your cell phone.

Together with her fiancee Benny Blanco (37), she was a guest and spoke openly about her thoughts on this topic: she is now “a bit bitter” if her weight is addressed, since mainly women would have to deal with this kind of comments. “Nobody cares about these things in men,” said Gomez.

In the podcast episode, the 32-year-old spoke to the subject of body image and said: “There is nothing new that women obviously have much more intense feelings due to their appearance.” If you prepare for an event, think most of the time: “I hope I can take the photo and sit down.” You don’t try to pay attention to comments on the Internet. But sometimes she falls victim to that because so many different things would come in front of her.

For this reason, she did not install any social media apps on her cell phone. “I am a person and sometimes I read things. But most of my time I ignore everything. I have nothing on my cell phone at the moment. So there are ways to combat it.” She doesn’t hate social media: “It’s just tricky.”

“It is the figure that is judged. I am not white enough, I’m not Mexican enough …” she complains in conversation. “My weight is also a big topic. Everyone has something to say and that makes me really sad,” said the singer and actress. “I just think it was bitter.” Your weight fluctuations are caused by the medication that she takes against her chronic autoimmune disease. “I prefer to be healthy and take care of myself,” she explains. “I’m not a model and I will never be.”
