Price for Minister Ad Christine Bergmann: Karoline Herfurth addresses appeal to politics

Karoline Herfurth (40) issued an urgent appeal to politics at the awarding of the German Child Protection Award. On Thursday (March 27), the actress and director of the politician Christine Bergmann (85) presented the award and found clear words about child protection.

In her eulogy, she emphasized the significant work of the former Federal Minister: “Christine Bergmann campaigned for the protection of children. As a result of her speech, Herfurth addressed her words to current politics. Bergmann himself thanked the jury with the words that she accepted the award on behalf of her many committed colleagues. “It is a special prize. When I look at the future of child protection, the list of children’s rights in the constitution is at the top of the list of necessary measures, which is long overdue,” said the award winner.

The SPD politician Christine Bergmann made a name for herself with her work as Federal Minister of Family, Seniors, Women and Youth from 1998 to 2002. As a minister, she was primarily committed to equality between women, the expansion of childcare and measures against domestic violence. It was significantly involved in the reform of childhood law.
