Concerts, fashion show and festive events: Danish cities are investing thousands of euros in the 18th birthday of Princess Isabella.
On April 21, Princess Isabella von Denmark will be 18 years old – and her family cannot be ragged for the celebrations. The age of the daughter of King Frederik (56) and Queen Mary (53) is celebrated with a number of festive events. The official birthday party will begin ten days before her actual birthday and will take place in two Danish cities.
The city of Aarhus has apparently provided a considerable budget of around 42,800 euros for its part of the celebrations. 13,735 euros for actors, 9,300 euros for catering and drinks for 300 guests as well as just under 3,700 euros for kitchen staff. 1,475 euros are planned for floral decorations – and another identical amount was reserved for a still secret gift.
Focus on young talents
The celebrations in Aarhus take place on April 11th in the town hall. As the Danish royal family reports, the event should be a homage to the young talents of the city in areas such as music, sports, culinary and design. The program includes a sustainable fashion show, musical performances, dance performances and the presentation of a birthday cake, which is prepared by vocational students. Among the guests will be around 100 young people from local youth organizations and educational institutions. Another 50 young residents have the opportunity to receive invitations via a lottery.
On April 15, the Royal Theater in Copenhagen continues. In cooperation with the theater, the Danish royal family organizes a birthday performance on the old stage for Princess Isabella. The event is also aimed specifically at a young audience – more than 1,000 young people between the ages of 17 and 24 from all over Denmark as well as the associated territories of Faroe Islands and Greenland also have the chance to win cards via a lottery. For those who cannot participate in person, the birthday presentation is transferred from the Danish radio.
Important milestone for the princess
Princess Isabella is the second oldest daughter of the royal couple and, according to her older brother Crown Prince Christian (19), stands in second place in the Danish succession, in front of her younger siblings, the twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine (14). The 18th birthday of Crown Prince Christian in October 2023 was celebrated with a glamorous gala dinner in the Christiansborg Palace, to which members of the Belgian, Norwegian, Swedish and Dutch royal houses were also invited.
