There are often large gifts on state visits. In Italy, the gift for the British king was now rather small – but original.
British King Charles III. Get a rather unusual gift when he visits Italy: the head of the United Kingdom, where the “Full English Breakfast” is still very popular in the morning -fried egg, ham, beans and tomato -received a glass of Nutella.
Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni then had the name “Carlo” printed in gold, i.e. the Italian variant of Charles, as the Ansa news agency reported. The chocolate nut spread is one of the large exports of the Italian food industry.
Charles and his wife Camilla had a state visit this week for four days. In the meantime they are back in Great Britain. In a big banquet, the 76-year-old apologized to the Italians in a moody speech for one or the other preparation type of Italian dishes in his homeland. “I just hope that you forgive us if we occasionally get your wonderful cuisine.”
