The documentary soap about “Bares for Rares” favorite Walter “Waldi” Lehnertz starts on ZDF and gives personal insights into his life.
Vases, jewelry or painting: Walter “Waldi” Lehnertz (58) is an absolute junk specialist. The iconic Eifeler has been part of the ZDF show “Bares for Rares” for years. Now the TV favorite gets his own show. The new six-part ZDF documentary soap “Waldis Welt” takes a look behind the scenes of the life of Walter Lehnertz, better known as “80-euro-Waldi” on Sundays at 2:10 p.m. The first four episodes can be found on ZDF.de from April 18.
Waldi Lehnertz: “Actually, I wanted to have a fishing show”
In an interview with Spot on News, Lehnertz explains how the new documentary soap was created: “Actually, I always wanted to have my own fishing show because I am a passionate angler. But that was too little content for the ZDF, so those responsible suggested that I can accompany me in all my activities.
In the ZDF documentary Soap, the spectators immerse themselves in the multifaceted life of Walter Lehnertz. Away from the square at the TV dealer counter, the six-part series gives an authentic and humorous insight into its everyday life and versatile passions.
When asked how the image of “Waldi”, which is shown in the new documentary soap, distinguishes from its well-known image as “80-euro-Waldi” in “Bares for Rares”, the dealer reveals: “In ‘Waldis Welt’ I am just as I am, totally authentic.”
Emotional moments in the documentary soap
This also includes his vulnerable side. “Emotions stop me and of course those who touch me. Think even the tears in the studio were shown when our film was shown.
The fact that he is constantly accompanied by cameras for the shooting does not matter to the crowd favorite: “In fact, I forget to film that I am filmed. So that’s not a problem for me.”
Humor plays a major role
His humor also plays a major role in the documentary soap. “I like to laugh and take every nonsense. The greatest thing for me is to make other people happy and happy, so I always have fun,” says Waldi about his philosophy of life.
In “Waldis Welt” Lehnertz’s passion for the carnival is also discussed. “So far the Eifel is not removed from the epicenter of the carnival. So many people to see happily is the bright joy – I like to be there,” the dealer enthuses about the annual fifth season.
More than just the junk expert
In “Waldis Welt”, the spectators also experience their favorite antiquity dealer as an artist. “Painting is pure relaxation for me. For me. I enjoy the times because I can really switch off there. I’m under power every day, you need such a compensation. Sometimes I have to force myself during these breaks so that I go down,” admits Lehnertz.
When asked about the crucial turning point in his life, the TV star has a clear answer, which will also be happy with his fans: “That was clearly ‘bares for rares’.” He has been a member of the TV flea show dealer since season first in 2013.
