Nadja Auermann spoke in an interview about her religiosity and baptism at the age of 49.
Nadja Auermann (54) talked about her religiosity. “I’ve been baptized since 2020,” says the model in the conversation. She had always been very religious, but grew up in a family that had rather rejected religion. “But I always believed in God. For me, beauty is something divine. She is the manifestation of love.”
Auermann, who has retired from the model business in recent years and lives in Dresden with her husband and two youngest daughters (born 2010 and 2013), tells in the interview how it came to baptism at the age of 49.
Tears in the service
At the age of eight, one of her daughters had expressed the desire to be baptized. Her husband is Catholic, she herself visited Protestant religious instruction. “And with the Catholic Church, I couldn’t do anything because of the whole scandal,” says Auermann. She then proposed to her daughter to go to church with her on Sundays, which the model impressed. “When we were in the service, I had the feeling that the pastor actually only speaks to me,” reveals the 54-year-old. “The whole sermon, all the content, the chants, everything was so much for my life situation, my feelings fit that I started crying at once. I have been eating like a castle dog. So it was almost every Sunday.”
For herself, she found that she was going to church, for her like a kind of meditation. “And this spiritual has something incredibly beautiful. Above all, because it has been celebrated more or less in this way for over 2,000 years, it has such a timeless existence.
Nadja Auermann: “I feel beautiful”
In the further conversation for the “Vogue” maia edition (April 26, 2025), Auermann also expresses himself in a different aspect on the subject of beauty. Because their view of their appearance has changed over the years. “For a long time I had the feeling that I would have to look like in the nineties, but at some point I got health problems,” says Auermann. She suffers from the Autoimmune Disease Hashimoto and is dealing with menopause. Corona also meant that she couldn’t do and increased as much sport. “When I see photos of 2019 today when I got married and wanted to lose weight again, I personally think that I was too thin. I now feel better with one in my eyes ‘normal’ weight.” She was underweight all her life, which was not spoken for the model world because she was booked and was even advised to continue to lose weight.
Today she knows: “I’m okay like this; I feel beautiful. For example, I have a rounder buttock. And being a little curvy is also okay. Everything in his time. Why should I try now to look like 19? […] Health is much more important to me than the question of whether my weight is so okay. “At the moment, she does many stretching exercises for the back and a good attitude.” I’m only 54, but I notice that I have to do something now so that I can age with a certain quality of life. “
Her oldest daughter Cosima (28), who also modeled, warned her “above all” in the fashion world, says Auermann. “It is generally not easy for the mental health of women to start with modeling. If you then grow up with someone who is native to this industry, this can cause additional pressure. For this reason, I would like to do everything to ensure that my children do not think that I would fuel this excessive thinness.”
