Music: Nico Santos indicates German -album – duet with Shirin David

The pop singer Nico Santos (32), who grew up in Mallorca, usually sings in English – in duets with German rappers, he also tries again and again in his mother tongue under the project name “Santos”. So on Friday the song is “Who loves you now?” published with Shirin David (30, “Belly legs Po”).

“When I came to Germany, I only made hip-hop and wrote and composed for others. That fell by the wayside at some point when I sang my first songs in English myself,” said Santos of the German Press Agency. “In the end, a lot of horny songs were created in German again and that will probably show up as an album at some point.”

However, he would not neglect English and soon publish a new number. The 32-year-old, who is actually called Nico Wellenbrink, landed his first, big solo hit in 2017 and wrote texts such as Mark Forster, Lena Meyer-Landrut or Sido for other artists.

First contact with German hip-hop legends

In the new season of the music show “The Voice of Germany”, which will be shot in Berlin next week, Santos sits as a coach on the red chair – among others alongside Shirin David and Michi Beck and Smudo from the Fantastic Four.

“I honestly never got to know the Fanta 4 – not even at any music celebration. I’ve never seen it in real. It’s really funny,” says the pop singer. “These are with the only colleagues that I have never seen live. That’s why I’m happy that it comes about.”
