Queen Camilla was very amused at the celebrations for Ve Day in London with her neighbor, a 101-year-old veteran.
The Royal Family around King Charles III. (76) and Queen Camilla (77) commemorates the British veterans of the Second World War this week. On Monday afternoon, the Royals attended the Buckingham Palace of a solemn parade through London and also invited some veterans into the Royal Box. Camilla in particular seemed to have fun with her neighbor.
The 77-year-old, dressed in a sapphire blue coat dress by Fiona Clare and a matching hat, had a 101-year-old veteran of the Royal British Legion on her left husband Charles and her right Jack Mortimer. In several photos, the two are deepened deeply and even laugh warm a few times.
Queen Camilla honors her late father
With her outfit, Camilla also honored a very special veteran in her life: on the lapel of her coat, the queen wore a brooch of the 12th Royal Lancers – the regiment that her late father Major Bruce Shand (1917-2006) had belonged to.
The “Victory in Europe” day, also abbreviated VE Day, is reminiscent of May 8, 1945. After the parade in front of the Buckingham Palace, a flypast of the Red Arrows follows around 13:45 London. The Royal Family around King Charles and Queen Camilla as well as Princess Kate (43) and Prince William (42) shows itself on the balcony of the palace. Afterwards, the royal couple is supposed to hold a tea reception with around 50 veterans in the palace.
