TV presenter Horst Lichter spoke in “Stern TV” about the loss of his child and how he had to learn to deal with it.
With its striking mustache and Rhenish cheerfulness, Horst Lichter (63) cooked in the audience hearts. But behind the happy facade there is also a story of deep pain. The “Bares für Rares” moderator spoke about the most difficult moment of his life: the death of his first child.
“When my child died, I had no time to take care of myself, one had to stay strong,” quoted. The native of Rhineland, who is known not only as a TV face, but also as a cook, cabaret artist and author, lost his first baby when it was just six months old.
Horst Lichter: “You have to move out again”
In the show, in which his great classic car passion and later his book “Zeit für Friendship” (2024) are at the beginning, Horst Lichter also says of his handling of blows: “One thing was clear relatively quickly: the moment you really have a stroke of fate for the first time, you will find that your environment is changing.” Specifically, nobody came to him when his child died. “Nobody wants to have anything to do with you anymore, because it is sorry for everyone,” he recalls, adding: “So you have to get out of it again if you want to live on.”
Moderator Steffen Hallaschka (53), and Horst Lichter, explains why he did not have the stroke of fate. “One had to stay strong. In the time I had no time to take care of myself. You have your wife, now you can imagine what happens to a mother. In addition: “You can’t put yourself next to it and say: Now we cry.”
Fans of the moderator showed themselves in the Instagram comments touched by his openness. “And still always so positive. Respect!”, You can read.
Humor as a life concept
In previous interviews, Lichter had already talked about this formative experience. The “Bares for Rares” moderator has had to cope with several severe strokes of fate in his life. In addition to the loss of his child, he suffered a stroke at the age of 26, followed by the second, together with a heart attack. In 2011 he explained that he has always tried to meet difficult situations with ease: “I always preferred the clown than someone who worries even more.”
