Robbie Williams became an icon of the Cool Britannia wave in the 1990s. With his new album he celebrates another phenomenon of that time.
The British superstar Robbie Williams releases a new album. The record, entitled “Britpop”, is to be released in autumn, as can be read in a message on Instagram. The first single is already the song “Rocket” outside, with which Williams also achieved a coup: Heavy-Metal legend Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath can be heard with a guitar solo.
With the album title, the 51-year-old Briton awakens memories of the 90s when not only he, but also many Britpop bands such as Oasis became symbols of a cool Britannia wave. “I finally wanted to make the album that I actually had in my mind in 1995 after my separation from Take,” said Williams.
Robbie Williams plays seven concerts in Germany
While most fans have to be patient, visitors may soon hear more samples of the new album. He couldn’t wait to play one or two of the new songs on his tour, said Williams. In Germany, the Brit performs at seven concerts between June and August, including on the Waldbühne in Berlin and the Olympic Stadium in Munich. The appearances are all sold out.
