Tim Wohlberedt helps people to reach their ideal weight. If you want to lose weight, different cutlery can sometimes help in everyday life.
This interview comes from the stern archive and first appeared in January 2024.
Mr. Wohlberedt, do people gain weight more quickly as they get older?
The basal metabolic rate – the energy that the body uses even when completely at rest – is highest in young adults around the age of 20 and then gradually decreases. If we eat as much as we did when we were younger, we may gain weight. We can prevent this by adjusting our diet a little or increasing our calorie consumption through more exercise. But that is often not so easy at an advanced age: we may no longer be as physically resilient. That is why it can be more difficult to actively lose weight at an advanced age. What I then tell my patients: It is sometimes already a success if they maintain their weight.
Losing weight through more exercise, is that possible?
