Victims of medical malpractice should find out a lot of things before suing their clinic. A medical lawyer with many years of experience explains the most important dos and don’ts.
Mr. Oehlschläger, every year in Germany there are more than 3,000 treatment errors involving hospital patients. This is suggested by information from the Medical Service of the Health Insurance Funds and the Arbitration Board of the German Medical Association. Do you think this figure is realistic or an understatement?
I believe that the number of unreported cases is high because I assume that many treatment errors are not detected. Either because no harm has been done or because no critical review has taken place and because many of the errors detected are not reported.
