This of course also has something to do with my biography. I grew up in an Iranian-German household, influenced by a father who came to Germany a few days before the Islamic regime change in Iran in 1979 because of his journalistic work, and a mother who went with him. Both were very committed to women’s rights and democracy. On my third birthday, my mother became seriously ill.
