Even as a child, Alexandra Maygnan was often very tired and weak. It wasn’t until she was 25 that she got the correct diagnosis: winter blues.
Recorded by Claudia Minner
For many years I felt like an alien. Different from the others, as if I wasn’t normal. No one around me seemed to have similar problems.
My parents and I moved from Venezuela to Belgium when I was ten. The move wasn’t easy for me – suddenly we were living in a different country, I had to find my way around and speak a different language and had new classmates. And then this weather in Brussels, it was terrible! In the fall and winter, ten, eleven or even more days would sometimes go by without a blue sky to be seen. Instead everything was gray. Often the clouds hung so low that I felt like I was being crushed by them.
