Fat has a bad reputation, but the body is dependent on it. Some things can even promote health. These foods are rich in healthy omega-3 fatty acids.
Fat is considered a thick and sick maker. But it’s not that easy. Fat is an important food module like carbohydrates or proteins. The human body needs fat, among other things, to use vitamins, for strong bones and cell production. People could not survive without fat. But: fat is not the same.
A distinction is made between saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. Saturated fatty acids can be found in meat and dairy products and primarily serve as an energy source and energy storage. If saturated fatty acids are consumed in excess, this can be borne by health-cholesterol levels can increase, the risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and vascular calcification grows.
Fat needs people
In contrast, unsaturated fatty acids are often described as “good” fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are among these unsaturated fatty acids.
